Linear Microelectronics in the Implementation of Audio Control Functions
In view of the technological accomplishments and the trend in pricing structure of microelectronics, the linear monolithic integrated circuits will have some drastic economic and technical effects on future audio systems. The critical audio performance parameters are reviewed in terms of the limitations inherent in the planar epitaxial process, and an amplifier is presented as an acceptable compromise. A number of examples are presented as ty-ical functional implementations such as amplifier stages, feedback-type tone controls and output buffers.
