The primary purpose of this paper is to convince engineers that integrated circuits are now practical for audio applications. Availability of -building block- units at low prices simplifies system design. Due to the availability of differential inputs and extremely high open loop gain, operational amplifier techniques become very useful. This permits construction of a wide variety of circuits, such as oscillators, active filters, mixers, and many others. Sufficient data is given in vendors data sheets to permit design of most -OP.AMP- circuits. When the amplifiers are used as audio amplifiers, circuit performance specification data is either not presented or is given in terms which have no direct meaning to audio engineers.
