Prediction of Sound Pressure Fields of Loudspeaker Arrays from Loudspeaker Polar Data with Limited Angular and Frequency Resolution

Document Thumbnail

n order to predict sound pressure level vs. frequency in any direction and distance from a loudspeaker array, complex (including magnitude and phase) spherical polar data of the individual loudspeakers in the array are needed. The paper describes a method that is applicable for the prediction of array on- and off-axis frequency responses when only low angular and frequency resolution complex polar data-for example, 5 degrees and one-third octave-are available. Comparisons between predicted and measured array frequency responses are presented. Measurement of the needed polar data magnitude and phase values is discussed.:
