Recording Mechanical Instruments-Barrel Organ

Document Thumbnail

These well known types of street organs, especially popular in the first half of this century, played an important role in musical entertainment, before gramophone records and radio were introduced. Recording with this very compactly built collection of pipes and some percussion in a narrow enclosure causes problems with getting a good balance. The paper also includes some historical information, describes recording problems, and contains illustrations.
