Implementing Digital Audio Devices for the IEEE 1394 High Performance Serial Bus

This paper examines practical issues related to the implementation of digital audio devices for the IEEE 1394 serial bus. It provides a brief tutorial of the IEEE 1394-1995 standard, the P1394a and P1394b supplemental standards, hardware development guidelines, and an overview of protocols for transporting and controlling audio over the 1394 bus.
