MASC is a bit-rate reduction algorithm that employs both multipulse linear predictive coding and sub-band coding for digital audio applications. In the earlier MASC design, a 7:1 bit-rate reduction ratio was achieved with good results using 8-band. This paper investigates further the effects of extending MASC toward 32-band. A new dynamic pulse allocation algorithm based on psychoacoustic is also proposed.
