An alternative form of diffusion structure based on non integer based phase reflection gratings is presented. The theory, design, advantages, and limitations of these structures are discussed and simulation and measurements of their performance presented. In particular their independence from the frequency response effects typical of integer based sequences. Methods of extending and improving performance are suggested.
