Subjective Evaluation of 3-D Sound Based on Two Loudspeakers
Virtual home theater (VHT) is a commercial 3-D sound technology that allows playback of 4- or 5.1-channel material through two loudspeakers. There are currently no standards that describe how these systems should be evaluated. A scientific method for subjectively evaluating VHT systems is described that controls the problematic nuisance variables that are unique to 3-D audio reproduction.
