Optimal 3D Speaker Panning

Document Thumbnail

A set of loudspeakers in a arbitrary 3-D array can be used to create virtual sound source images to a large audience. The problem of maximizing directionality and minimizing panning artifacts is described in a mathematical context. Some solutions to the problem for both static and moving sound source are proposed. These solutions have been implemented and auditioned.
