Application of Spatial Bandwidth Reduction in Wave Field Synthesis

Document Thumbnail

The wave field synthesis concept makes it possible to reinforce sound fields with preservation of temporal and spatial properties. In practical applications, a discretized loudspeaker array is used. To get an insight into the effects of sampling in space and time, multidimensional spectral analysis is very useful. It is shown that spatial aliasing, which may lead to localization and coloration problems, can be avoided by reducing the spatial bandwidth.
