Audibility of Nonlinear Loudspeaker Distortions

Document Thumbnail

The sensitivity of human hearing with respect to nonlinear distortions has to be investigated in order to focus on the development of loudspeakers, especially to the sources of most audible distortions. By means of digital signal processing, a filter system can be designed showing the inverse transfer characteristic of an electrodynamical low-frequency loudspeaker. This filter system has been used for producing defined distortions to determine the thresholds of hearing of three dominant nonlinear distortion causes.
