Acoustic Simulatin and Visualization Using a New Unified Beam Tracing and Image Source Approach
This paper presents a new pipelined computer simulation model which unifies the image source and beam tracing methods. The sound field is quickly approximated by overlaying an improved statistical reverberant tail upon the geometrically precise early response calculation. Scene coherence is leveraged to support multidimensional receivers using octree subdivision. A beam reflection depth slider allows the designer to trade accuracy for speed, resulting in a system well suited for interactive acoustic design.
