In a stereo loudspeaker scenario, distance perception is often said to depend on the ratio of direct to reverberant sound. Two other parameters of a synthetic room response have been investigated. The results indicate that the temporal distribution of reverberant energy acts as an important distance cue in itself, while the fine structure of early reflections constitutes a supporting distance cue.
