A special microphone named "Ice-Zone Microphone" has been developed. This new microphone can be set into the ice of a skating rink. It can clearly pick up the sounds of skating traveling through ice without being influenced by outside noises, such as cheering of spectators. It will be put into practical use at the skating events of the Nagano Winter Olympic Games in 1998.
