Radiation Synthesis with Digitally Controlled Loudspeakers

This paper describes a method dedicated to radiation synthesis. It consists in optimizing the combination of the acoustic fields radiated by the digitally controlled transducers of the reproduction source. The performance of the method is discussed and illustrated by measurements undertaken with different prototypes. Applications in the field of music and electroacoustics are reviewed.
