A Study of the Practicality and Accuracy of Impulse Response Calculations for the Auralization of Sound System Design

Document Thumbnail

Auralization is one of the advanced tools that are becoming available to sound system designers and acoustic CAD developers. Convolution and digital-to-analog conversion techniques are almost entirely dependent on digital signal processing (DSP) hardware, and DSP technology is maturing rapidly. It is important for acoustic engineers to implement auralization using impulse response calculation methods that are practical, yet accurate enough for sound sys;tem design purposes. The key factors for impulse response calculations are described, and a practical solution yielding suitable results is revealed.
