An Acoustically Transparent Screen

Document Thumbnail

An acoustically transparent screen has been developed which uses a woven knit with the permeability of air and a treated back surface of dark color. Because it has improved sound transmission efficiency over the conventional perforated screen, loudspeakers can be placed directly behind and close to the new screen without the need for equalization. The contrast ratio and viewing angle of the screen are excellent. This combination of acoustic and visual characteristics makes it very suitable for wide-screen multichannel audiovisual applications in restricted spaces such as home theater and front projection HDTV.
