ZIPI-An Inexpensive, Deterministic, Moderate-Speed Computer Network for Music and Other Media
This paper explores the proposal for a new network protocol, called ZIPI, for communication among computer electronic musical instruments and related media devices. ZIPI is an OSI modeled token-ring network that supports a deterministic peer-to-peer architecture. A central hub provides a single-cable star configuration and increases ring robustness. Baud rate is variable, starting at 250 K. Current hardware supports 20 Mbaud.
