Grand Designs: The Installation of the Crest NexSys Computer-Controlled Audio System at the MGM Grand Hotel and Grand Adventures Theme Park, Las Vegas, Nevada

Document Thumbnail

The paper addresses the following questions: When is it appropriate to use computer control? What function needs to be controlled? How does the system designer or operator want to control it? What is the selection criteria for a control system? Can the same functions be controlled without a computer? These ideas are presented as a case study of a large theme park installation, including sound for amusement rides, paging and background music, performance theater sound, and a reinforcement system in a 19 000-seat special events center. Lessons learned in the design and installation process are addressed in a postinstallation audit.
