Dynamic Measurement and Interpretation of the Nonlinear Parameters of Electrodynamic Loudspeakers

Document Thumbnail

An extended model of nonlinear loudspeaker distortion represents both closed- and vented-box systems. The nonlinear parameters, which vary with voice-coil displacement, are measured dynamically, and the coefficients in their series of expansions are determined. This method identifies the dominant causes of distortion and suggests constructional improvements. Calculated second- and third-order distortions agree well with the measured responses.
