A TV Presentation System with All-Digital Sound
This Spring, Thames TV together with other UK TV companies, are to commence stereo TV test transmissions using digitally encoded NICAM 728 stereo sound. Following successful completion of these trials, it is the intention to provide a regular stereo TV service early next year. Thames TV are at this moment pursuing a totally digital routing philosophy and are currently in the process of replacing their main transmission and presentation center with a system based upon the AES digital format. Comparisons between an existing studio complex which currently utilizes conventional analog audio technology and its all digital stereo counterpart will be made.
