The previous papers (1-3) have dealt with low-frequency performance of listening rooms basically in steady state. In this paper there are presented typical time response of rectangular rooms to the low-frequency transient excitation. Also shown are some consequences of necessary windowing in frequency and time domains, when responses to nonstationary signals are computed from discrete transfer functions using FFT. Briefly discussed are the preliminary results of listening tests with computer simulated responses of rectangular rooms and with music. In the second case compared were several configurations of different loudspeaker systems, which were aided by conventional and near-field subwoofers.
