Delay in Broadcasting Operations

The introduction of excessive delay into the connections which link programme sources and destinations can cause severe problems for broadcasters. This paper presents examples of situations in which delay can be a problem in current broadcasting operations, and anticipates other possible problems which may arise if it is not possible to halt the trend towards ever-increasing delay in broadcasters' connections.
