Digital signal processing makes it possible to create realistic simulations of concert halls during playback. Concert hall simulators synthesize the crucial early reflections responsible for creating a sense of immersion in the sound field. The early reflections are simulated by convolving the incoming sound with the impulse response of the hall. The impulse response can be obtained either from measurements of actual halls or from a mathematical model.
