The radiation characteristics for a flat piston are well known due to the fact that an analytic solution exists for this configuration. Seldom does a true source act as a flat, rigid piston. The radiation characteristics for an arbitrary source configuration can be obtained by numerically solving the Rayleigh integral. The assumptions of this approach are reviewed and the computer implementation and results described. The directivity response, axial frequency response, and complex radiation impedance for various configurations are shown.
