Unidirectional woofer systems preferably use resistance-loaded ports to control the pressure gradient. Analysis of the acoustical analog circuit shows how to optimize the design for any specific purpose: one can trade between box dimensions, frequency range, internal pressure, driver volume velocity, and radiation efficiency. The predominantly resistive rear load on the driver simplifies the application of motional feedback.
