A new linear-phase three-way filter system for digital audio tone-control application is presented. Approximately 80% of its coefficient values are zero. The remaining nonzero coefficient values are 0.5 and 2.5. Thus the filter system is essentially multiplication free. When the high-frequency and low-frequency gain weightings are unity, the filter system acts as a pure delay producing no frequency response distortion.
