EMI: A Tutorial About Sources, Design Standards and Measurements
In this paper, an overview will be given of the whole domain about Electromagnetic Compatibility. Due to the use of more and more sophisticated electronics, electromagnetic interference and susceptibility has become an important factor in the several design-steps of a new product. A number of typical EMI-sources and some design-hints will be discussed as well as the choice of some appropriate components and materials, standards (FCC and VDE) for allowed radiation levels and their measuring techniques, and some test-set-ups for susceptibility control. As a last topic, some typical aspects of ESD will be discussed.
