In major cases, horn-type loudspeakers have been designed so that the cross-sectional area should coincide with respectable function, without taking into account change of shape along its axis. The authors have developed a novel horn loudspeaker having a continuously changing cross-sectional shape. Subtle differences, not to this point discernible by conventional measurement tools, compared with ordinary horn speakers, were detected by means of a newly proposed measuring method.
