Reed-Solomon Coding and Decoding by Digital Signal Processors

Document Thumbnail

The error correcting codes applied to a digital audio recorder are usually performed by dedicated hardware. The fast progress in digital signal processors (DSPs) for the last few years allows coverage of new areas, such as the error code process. The author presents a complete RS code algorithm which overcomes the lack of multiplication in the field of Galois. Since the implementation uses no specific hardware, the FDSP can handle additional tasks: anti-aliasing filtering and digital sound editing.
