Computer Control of Complex Systems and Description of RS-422 Protocol

This paper is a description and discussion of the techniques employed for the control of audio switching and monitoring equipment from an IBM AT or XT Compatible Computer. The RS-422 serial interface between computer and peripheral equipment is defined, and the software protocol is described. An overview of the operation and control of switching matrix`s, relay remote control, ambient noise analysis, digital gain control, digital delays, automatic mixers, paging, monitoring and testing, and digitally controlled equalizers is included.
