A new endless-loop cartridge has been developed for radio broadcasting. A tensioning arrangement similar to that found in professional open-reel recorders provides constant tension, eliminating the need for pressure pads. A special adjustment is added to provide compensation in the open loop for wear and other changes. A new tape design eliminates the need for record equalization at the 7.5-in/s (190-mm/s) broadcast speed. Maximum output is improved to provide 15-in/s (380 mm/s) performance at 7.5 in/s (190 mm/s).
