The Design and Testing of a "New" Reverberation Meter
A new, compact, single instrument for the measurement of reverberation time, the time conducted for a diffuse sound field to decay 60 dB (T/60), is presented. Tests were conducted to determine the instrument's performance in a reverberant room using both random noise and pistol-shot sound sources and in a large concert hall using a pistol-shot sound source. Results compared favorably with simultaneous measurements using a conventional measurement technique and agreed with those obtained by previous workers.
