The Assessment of Two-Channel Stereophonic Reproduction Performance in Studio Monitor Rooms, Living rooms and Small theatres

Document Thumbnail

It is appreciated that a great deal of experimental work on binaural location and two channel stereophonic virtual image location has been carried out bya number of workers in this field. The object of these investigations, however, has been mainly to seek data to assist in the explanation of the physiological and acoustical processes involved. While the results that have been reported are of great interest scientifically, they do not easily serve to explain the limitations and the errors of a practical stereophonic system to the studio operating personnel, the studio managers or the layman. It is hoped that the method of presentation of the experimental data in this paper will indicate clearly the errors and limitations of the system at a glance.
