Localization of Lateral Phantom Sources
Localization and localization uncertainty of phanton sources generated by two loudspeakers located laterally and asymmetrically with respect to the observer were investigated. The parameters were level difference, loudspeaker lateral displacement, and angular aperture. Based on these results, an arrangement with 6 loudspeakers at ±30°, ±90°, and ±150° re. 0° front was tested in order to achieve an omnidirectional sound stage suitable for a normal discrete quadraphonic system.
