Electronic Detection of Acoustic Feedback and Automatic Sound System Gain Control

Document Thumbnail

An electronic signal processing system and gain controller which can distinguish sound system -ring- signals from ordinary speech and music signals has been developed. The system is installed in the line between the microphone mixer and the power amplifier. Attenuation sufficient to the degree necessary to restore stability is introduced only in the event of excessive acoustic feedback. Unattended sound system operation is a possible application for this device.
