Recent experiments in phantom image localization in quadraphony are presented. The localization accuracy is compared to that of real sources using the same apparatus. The results of previous researchers are reviewed and some interesting similarities and differences are examined. Possible reasons for the differences are suggested. The available phantom image prediction equations are described and, using a nonlinear regression computer program, fitted to the data. A new prediction equation (actually a variation of Makita's theory) is suggested which fits the data extremely well.
