This paper describes a compact pickup developed for an optical PCM audio disc player. In this pickup, a laser diode simultaneously functions as a light source and a detector of rf signals. The wobbling sensor and the 2-axis moving coil actuator were developed for beam focusing and radial tracking servo control for the pickup.
