Methods of analysis used in directional antenna theory are borrowed and applied to the calculation of both near-field and far-field directional patterns of complex loudspeaker arrays. The process makes possible more accurate predictability of sound fields in vicinity of line array speakers and performance of other widely separated sources, yielding information on field intensity and phase. Study shows methods for improved utilization of loudspeakers for coverage in difficult environment.
