Mylar Polyester Film and Acetate as Base Materials for Magnetic Recording Tape

Acetate and mylar polyester film are currently used as base materials in the manufacture of more than 95% of all magnetic recording tape. Laboratory comparisons of both types of film were run under typical recording conditions. This paper reports on the findings of the performance characteristics of tapes now commercially available.
