A Practical High-Frequency Trackability Test for Phono Pickups

A test signal is described which applies a high-velocity high-frequency excitation to the pickup, simulating sibilant sounds and overtones which frequently produce ugly sounds on playback. The test may be used audibly, visually presented on an oscilloscope, or used to yield numerical results.
