With the development of low-cost high-speed MOS circuitry, it is currently possible to overcome the cost and tuning deficiencies of the conventional twelve-oscillator organ frequency generator by employing a generator comprising a single high-frequency master oscillator in conjunction with various digital calculating systems. A recent comprehensive study of three such systems indicates that only one has high purity of tone combined with pitch accuracy for tempered scale generation.
