Is Four Channel a Fraud?

A comparison of the acoustic resonant modes in typical auditoriums, recording studios and home listening rooms is made to discuss the number of channels required for optimum reproduction of the symphony orchestra and small instrumental groups which use electronic delay as a musical tool. This background is used as a basis for discussing how the musical taste of the listener can guide his choice of equipment.
