Technical requirements for the recording of specialized sounds for use in support of military audio-visual training often call for laboratory facilities not available at the recording site. This paper describes such a facility, a mobile sound laboratory houses within a 40 ft trailer. This mobile unit has been converted to contain a control room/laboratory, a suspended narration studio and a workshop. Special features of this laboratory include sound insulation of all rooms to achieve a minimum of 35 dB reduction in exterior-to-interior noise level, as well as a complete self-contained temperature and humidity control system.
