A Dual-Band Audio Limiter

A solution to the problem of single instrument domination due to limiting is presented. Distortion as related to program frequency, release time, and the compression element, is defined and a design concept to minimize this distortion is shown. A rapid-attack limiter amplifier which incorporates the solutions outlined is described and the circuit design discussed in detail.
