Recent improvements of professional magnetic recording systems have been complemented by improved magnetic tapes. For music mastering, certain characteristics and considerations are paramount. The development and performance of a new recording tape optimized for the music industry is described. Its features, including wider dynamic range, increased durability, and a new backing, are discussed.
