Modifications of the MPEG-4 AABIFS Perceptual Approach: Assessed for the Use with Interactive Audio-Visual Application Systems

Document Thumbnail

This paper discusses a subjective assessment performed on various modifications of the MPEG-4 AABIFS Perceptual Approach reverberation algorithm. These modifications were presented in interactive audiovisual scenes and test subjects were asked to rate the quality of the reverberation. Presumably due to visual distraction, test subjects were not able to securely identify the higher quality reverberation algorithm. Furthermore, a number of peculiarities in the reference implementation have been detected in the assessment.
