A method is suggested for psychological evaluation of static continuous tone quality which has been changed for the worse by non-linear distortion occurring in an electronic circuit. An output signal distorted through a non-linear circuit is first Fourier analyzed into partial components and then the dissonance value (turbidity) is calculated by a -Consonance Theory.- The result agrees well with psychological experiments on turbidity of distorted signals.
