An Improved Field Corrector for Free-Field Microphone Calibrations

An automatic corrector for free-field microphone measurements which is devoid of errors inherent in the -feedback-type- field correction schemes has been developed. Using a standard microphone the field pressure-vs-frequency characteristic at a region is recorded together with a triggering tone for starting the oscillator. The standard microphone then is replaced with the unknown microphone. The triggering tone starts the recorder in precise frequency coincidence with the oscillator producing a graph of the true response-frequency characteristic of the unknown microphone.
