A new technique using an inbiased output stage extends the power output limit of a solid state power amplifier. The cross-over distortion inherent in an unbiased Class B output stage is eliminated by means other than biasing. An amplifier using the system described produces 100 watts continuously with extremely low intermodulation distortion.
